Brett Chalfant is CSA’s Senior Director of Operations for the Southwest Region. He is responsible for internal and external delivery on all of CSA’s West Coast contracts; including oversight of operations, personnel, and task management to ensure exceptional client delivery and satisfaction.
Brett started his career in the United States Navy after graduating from Penn State with a BS in International Business Management and Minors in Spanish and International Studies. He served as a Navy Supply Corps Officer from 2005 to 2016. While on active duty, Brett gained extensive expertise in leadership, fleet operations, and DoD business areas to include operational logistics, inventory management, life cycle sustainment, and financial management. He served onboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) from 2006 to 2008 and completed two deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2008 to 2011, Brett served as Supply Officer of Naval Special Warfare Group 3 (NSWG-3) where he supported operational logistics for the entire undersea portfolio of Naval Special Operations. During his tour at NSWG-3 Brett volunteered to serve as an individual augmentee in Western Iraq as the Naval Liaison to SEAL Team 1 and as the Deputy J4 at the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force. After leaving active duty, Brett continued his service with the Navy Reserves at Commander Third Fleet as part of the Logistics Readiness Center.
Before his role as the Southwest Regional Director, Brett led and managed CSA’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) Fleet Readiness Directorate (FRD) 100 task. He was responsible for the cost, schedule, performance, and risk management for 22 CSA and subcontractor personnel supporting the Fleet Readiness and In-Service Program branches. During his time as the Task Lead, Brett oversaw training, team development, and client delivery across a wide range of program support services including program management, contract management, logistics support, acquisition support, technical, and installation activities.
Before assuming his role as the SPAWAR FRD 100 Task Lead, Brett helped to establish and later led CSA’s SPAWAR System Center Pacific Code 8.0 (Corporate Operations) contract. In this role, he headed multi-disciplinary teams from Total Force Management, Executive Support, Office of the Chief Engineer, and Corporate Strategy.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Brett now resides in San Diego, CA with his amazing wife, Arielle, and their two awesome kids: Camden (daughter) and Carson (son). An avid outdoorsman and world traveler, Brett has journeyed through 23 countries and has hiked, kayaked, or camped in some of the most remote locales on the planet. These days, if Brett isn’t at the beach or a park with his family, you can rest assured that he is watching his Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturdays and supporting his Atlanta teams (Falcons, Braves, and Hawks) throughout the year.
